How to read these numbers Source, sample sizes & limitations
Source: Employer listings published on this board, as of Oct 20. This is a sample of remote hiring, not the whole market.
Pay: Open listings only, using each range’s midpoint or its single stated amount. Medians and quartiles use nearest rank; at least 5 valid quotes are required. Currencies and pay periods are never converted or mixed. The pay index compares each region with the same filtered market; each job counts once in that benchmark. It measures advertised pay, not applicant competition or purchasing power.
Geography: Regions are hiring locations, not employer headquarters. Multi-region jobs appear in each named region. Worldwide jobs are separate; regional totals are not additive. A country includes jobs naming it or open across its region without country restrictions in that region.
Hiring activity: New postings use the employer’s posting date in the selected 30 UTC calendar days, including today so far. They include roles that have since closed; removed listings are excluded. The prior-period comparison uses the preceding 30 days. New discoveries of older jobs can change past counts. Hotspots are ranked by new postings, then active employers and open roles.
